Description

As Head of School, you will lead a Bezos Academy with 20-80 children ages three through five as part of a growing multi-state network of high quality, tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in underserved communities.  You will participate closely in the launch and opening of your school, selecting materials, and hiring teaching/support staff. In preparation for your school opening in fall 2022, you will hire teachers, support student recruitment efforts, build a strong family community, coach and develop teaching staff, and ensure the educational experience for each child in every classroom is of the highest standard. You will bring significant teaching and school leadership experience, knowledge of child development, management experience, exceptional communication skills, and experience working with families and leaders from diverse community areas.  Above all, you demonstrate passion for our mission to expand access to high quality preschool in underserved communities.

*Relocation support is available for this role.

LOCATIONS AND START DATES

  • We anticipate opening a number of new schools in partnership with local community organizations in the fall of 2022 and are in discussion with prospective site hosts. Our new schools are likely to be in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area, central and eastern Washington state, the greater Miami metro area, the Orlando metro area, the Houston metro area, and the Dallas metro area. On the application, please only select locations you are willing to work in and for which you will meet the criteria for Head of School so we can match you with the right school sites and the appropriate interview team.
  • Our new preschools are likely to open in September 2022. You will have a choice of two start dates:
    • Jan 31, 2022: this start date enables you to have the longest runway to prepare your new school site and to participate in hiring teachers and assistant teachers
    • May 2, 2022: starting at this date will still enable you to join our leadership and Montessori training but will limit your ability to participate in hiring your school’s teaching staff
