Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires applicants to be Bilingual in English and Spanish. Please only apply if you are fully bilingual (able to read, write, and speak) in both languages. This skill will be tested.
Under the supervision of the Dean of Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation, to teach Diploma Level and Bricklaying Courses and to plan, develop and revise assigned courses. Related duties include acquisition of supplies and equipment, upkeep of laboratory facilities and equipment, participation in division and department activities, and the performance of duties as assigned.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance.
- Advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program/department area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to promote educational opportunities at MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program/department evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Educational and Occupational Experience:
At least one of the below must be met:
- Completion of a four (4) year registered apprenticeship in Bricklaying with at least four (4) years (8,000 hours) of Journey Level work experiences, OR
- A technical diploma in Bricklaying and Masonry with at least seven (7) years (14,000 hours) of work experience in Bricklaying and Masonry, OR
- An Associate's Degree or higher in a related field with at least seven (7) years (14,000 hours) of work experience in Bricklaying and Masonry,
In addition, one of the following must be met:
- At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years, OR
- Two years of teaching bricklaying and masonry work at the post-secondary level within the last five years. {One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time of four (4) semesters part-time}
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. Must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both languages.

Supplemental Information
Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and the start date is to be determined.
Hours/Location: This position is a .5 FTE the number of hours worked per week will vary based on course load. Hours and location are based on enrollment and departmental need.
Hourly Rate/Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
