Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Keeping Sights Upward Journey Honors College has experienced significant recent growth of both its student population'now at nearly 1900 students and endowment currently at $25 million. The KSU Journey Honors College collaborates across the university and with community partners to support excellence in undergraduate education at Kennesaw State University. We recruit academically talented, highly motivated students into honors cohort programs and general honors pathways. Honors curricula focus on interdisciplinary opportunities, experiential learning, community engagement, leadership, and global education. They are also designed to help students build knowledge, peer and professional networks, and important skills and competencies which will lead to their long-term individual success and ability to impact others. The KSU Journey Honors College also supports excellence in undergraduate education through the Office of National and International Scholarships and Fellowships which serves the entire university.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and Associate Dean of the Keeping Sights Upward Journey Honors College with a preferred start date of January 1, 2025. This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

The Associate Dean will be a key member of the KSU Journey Honors College leadership team and will oversee both the Office of National and International Scholarships and Fellowships (ONISF) and our prestigious honors cohort programs.

The Office of National and International Scholarships and Fellowships is poised for radical growth and needs a dynamic, visionary leader to help expand its impact on Kennesaw State University's 46,000+ students. In collaboration with the Dean, the Associate Dean will help create and implement a strategic plan to increase the number of applications to national and international scholarships and fellowships and will help support the pipeline of applicants by creating a culture of excellence and engagement in the college's honors cohort programs.

Responsibilities include:
  • Creating systems to scale the pipeline for prestigious awards, particularly among honors students
  • Serving as a spokesperson and advocate for ONISF
  • Working with Strategic Communications to amplify ONISF-related success stories
  • Supervising the Director and Program Manager for ONISF
  • Coordinating sections of HON 3499
  • Working to recruit, support, and mentor students through the application process
  • Working with the directors of existing honors cohorts to focus on all students applying for external awards
  • Working with cohort directors and the program manager for recruitment and admissions to optimize the impact of cohorts on overall honors recruitment
  • Overseeing and assessing cohort curricula and student learning outcomes
  • Teaching honors courses as needed
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured Professor in one of the University's academic departments or schools
  • A record of progressive academic leadership experience (3-5 years) and career success appropriate to the Associate Dean's role
  • Successful experience building or leading major initiatives


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with National and International Scholarship and Fellowship advising (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in Honors Education (strongly preferred)
  • Administrative and leadership experience in honors (strongly preferred)
  • Experience fostering collaborations across departments, colleges, and/or institutions
  • Record of mentorship of undergraduate research and creative activities; internships, study abroad, and/or community-based learning
  • Effective communication skills
  • Successful budget management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and mentor faculty and staff
  • Experience with assessment.
