Type of Assignment: Full-Time Faculty

Position Available: MiraCosta Colleges Art Department invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time (10-months per year), tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching curriculum in two-dimensional art, emphasizing painting and drawing. In addition to teaching core painting and drawing courses, teaching assignments may extend to related two-dimensional art-making curriculum and practice within the selected candidates area of expertise which may include any of the following: mixed media, printmaking, digital art, public art, gallery and curatorial expertise, and/or career and portfolio preparation in visual arts. The successful candidate will teach a combination of existing painting and drawing courses and will be responsible for developing and teaching 2D curriculum, including integrating digital technologies into traditional curricula. Responsibilities of the position also include equitable participation in the administrative duties related to the necessary operation of the art department, school, and college. This includes participation in departmental meetings, service on district and college-level committees, and community engagement and outreach. Integral to the position is the ability of the selected candidate to share leadership roles with other full-time faculty in support of the department and its mission, and to further our commitment to community programming and engagement. The Art Department seeks a creative and dynamic colleague who will add their own experience and vision to a collaborative team. The successful candidate will have a proven record of excellence in culturally responsive teaching practices and be a professional, practicing artist with a robust exhibition career. The selected candidate will collaborate with other full-time instructors in leading curriculum development, using culturally responsive teaching methods, and in coordinating the overall program.RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high-quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Compensation: $85,435 (class I, step 1) to $143,026 (class VI-doctorate, step 10)

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
1. Master's in Fine Arts*, Art, or Art History; OR

(*NOTE: "Master's in Fine Arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; as well as art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing, or other non-plastic arts. Individuals with a master's degree in any of those specializations must request equivalency.)

2. Bachelor's in Fine Arts, Art, or Art History AND Master's in Humanities; OR

3. the equivalent. Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application. 4. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND
